Kari grew up in Northern Virginia, and was raised in a church-going family. From early on, she understood that Jesus died for her sins, but there were still other pursuits that held more interest for her than Christ. When she started attending a Bible study at Immanuel Bible Church as a freshman in college, she finally began to realize that she could be saved only through Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross, and that the only thing she could contribute to this process was her sin. In the summer of 2007 she graduated from George Mason University, began working as the Administrative Assistant at Grace Bible Church, and married her college sweetheart Josh Smith. Josh and Kari now have one son. Kari leads the High School girls' small group at Grace, and assists Josh with teaching the 4-5th grade Sunday school class. In her spare time, she loves to read good theology and good fiction.
