Walter grew up in small-town Tifton, GA where he regularly attended church with his family. He accepted Christ as his Savior at church camp when he was 13. In college Walter came to a point in his life where he realized he had been pursuing worldly ambitions instead of a personal relationship with Jesus. At age 23 Walter made a drastic change in his life by changing his focus and choosing to live his life for Christ. He moved to Northern Virginia in 1997 in pursuit of a job and met his wife, Sarah, while attending Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield. Walter and Sarah were married in 1999 and now have three daughters. They have a shared interest in supporting missionaries and going on short-term trips. As a couple they serve on the Missions Board and have a personal ministry where they print and distribute newsletters for 19 different missionaries free of charge. Walter has been serving in various roles at GBC since 2006 including teaching in the Children's ministry and leading Home-Groups, short-term mission trips, and game time at Vacation Bible School. Walter enjoys spending time with Sarah, entertaining the kids (including doing their hair and painting their nails) and watching movies. He currently does project management for the United States Marine Corps. In February 2010 Walter was appointed to the GBC Leadership Team as Deacon.
