Men

No catchy ministry name. No false tough guy language. No catchy anything. We're just a group of ordinary guys, in need of more grace.

We have one main objective for Men's Ministry: To teach sound doctrine flowing out of a growing understanding of the Gospel.

Whether we think about this or not, the truth is that we live life, make all of our decisions, and react to circumstances we encounter based on what we really believe to be true. In a very real sense everyone is a theologian. As Christian men who are responsible for our lives, marriages, parenting, and providing for our families through our work, what we DON'T KNOW will hurt us. As we grow in our knowledge of sound doctrine - the Gospel and its many facets - there is the greatest hope for seeing progress in our lives.

Don't most men who call themselves Christians desire to live lives in a manner worthy of God? Don't you want to actually see some advances in the life Christians are called to live? The Bible is clear about how these things can become a reality and Grace's Men's Ministry is constantly pointing men to the source of such change...the Gospel.

Book Review:

Preaching the gospel to yourself every day is what this book is about. Jerry Bridges seeks to answer three questions in this book:

1. What is the gospel we should preach to ourselves?

2. Why do we, who are already believers, need to preach it to ourselves?

3. How do we do it?

The Gospel For Real Life, lays a robust theological foundation for Christians. Bridges, in a accessable way, unfolds the Cross in light of God's holiness, justice, mercy, and grace, Christ's perfect obedience, the substitutionary position Christ took for us, the penalty of our sin paid in full by Christ, our sinful condition, and our being reconciled to God based on Christ's work in his life, death, burial, and resurrection alone.

You might be like me and either had or currently have the impression that the gospel is strictly for unbelievers. It was once my understanding that the Gospel only brought me to saving faith, but that the hard work of the Christian life in sanctification (being transformed into Christ's likeness) was up to me and my own strength. God used this book, however, to transform my perspective of how I see and understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is not only why/how we are saved, but also why/how we are being saved (1 Cor. 15:1-2).
